Eagles vs Patriots

It’s a matchup between the league’s most successful franchise of the 2000s—five Super Bowls and counting for the Patriots—and a team that’s looking to win its first Super Bowl ever despite playing with their backup quarterback in Nick Foles.

The game should have yet another massive audience. Both teams have large, devoted fanbases. Some football fans might have Patriots fatigue, but the potential for schadenfreude if New England falls short will lure plenty of people in.

Tom Brady’s celebrity extends well beyond the world of sports. He’s the kind of person that can draw in all kinds of casual observers, curious to know whether or not he can win a sixth championship. The commercials, as always, promise to be a star-studded spectacle.

f the football and ads aren’t enough, Justin Timberlake is playing the halftime show, as he looks to put his infamous appearance with Janet Jackson behind him. Pink will also make an appearance singing the national anthem.

If you for some reason haven’t made plans for a Super Bowl party or aren’t yet sure when or how to watch the game, here’s the necessary viewing info below.

Sydney Hobart Yacht Race 2017

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority has warned anybody thinking of filming the Sydney to Hobart yacht race to think again before launching their unmanned aerial vehicles into the sky.

With the yachts departing Sydney Heads at 1pm tomorrow, CASA’s Peter Gibson says drones pose the highest risk during the start and finishing stages of the race.

The 2017 Sydney to Hobart yacht race will see a fearsome battle for victory, with a major showdown between at least four of the fastest boats in the world gunning for line honours.

At 1pm on Boxing Day, as lunch is taken at the MCG, the cannon will blast to signal the start of the 73rd great race, the racing fleet sailing 628 nautical miles down south to Hobart and the finish line up the River Derwent.
Last year’s race saw the race record crushed, with close to five hours taken out of the previous record by winner Perpetual Loyal, the 100-foot supermaxi. She returns in 2017, under new owner and new sponsor name InfoTrack, skippered by Christian Beck.

“I’d probably go so far as to say that InfoTrack is probably the shitbox of the super-maxi fleet,” Beck said, half-jokingly, half-serious.

But, InfoTrack skipper Tom Slingsby added: “These guys are pretty strong, but if we get our conditions, we’ve shown … that this boat can go really fast.

“Hopefully we get a bit of our conditions as well. It doesn’t look like it too much, but you never know, it’s a Sydney to Hobart race.”

The three other supermaxis looking to beat InfoTrack start with Wild Oats XI, back again to attempt a ninth line honours victory, after suffering keel damage and retiring last year, and surviving a massive lightning strike that damaged electronics on the eve of the race.

Wild Oats XI skipper Mark Richards has predicted an “excellent” battle between the massive supermaxis.

“You’ve basically got the four fastest hundred-footers on the planet in the race, which I think is an amazing feat in itself,” Richards said.

American Maxi LDV Comanche, winner in 2015, changed hands just two-weeks ago, and will be competing under new Sydney skipper Jim Cooney.

“It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity – too good to pass up,” said Cooney.

“This year competition is fierce, with the strongest line-up of supermaxis ever seen on one race.”
Peter Harburg’s re-jigged Black Jack – a redesigned boat previously known as Alfa Romeo which won in 2009 – rounds out the four, which have all won under different names.
Black Jack won the Big Boat challenge over Wild Oats XI on Sydney Harbour last week, adding keen interest.
“We bought that hull because it was so similar to Wild Oats,” Harburg told the Sydney Morning Herald.
“We just felt it was better for the racing that I’ve experienced in Australia, there’s quite a bit of time in light weather.
“If they weren’t here we still would’ve gone that way. The result of Oats being here and us being here is that it’s very close racing and that’s what we do it for, isn’t it.”
Chasing the top four will be Botin 80′ Beau Geste, Volvo 70 footers, including Wizard, the rebadged Giacomo, who beat home two super maxis in last year’s finish, and won overall handicap honours, along with Ichi Ban, brand new IRC 52. These boats will be more likely to be in consideration for overall winner, rather than line honours.
As always, the prevailing weather conditions will play a huge role in deciding the winner, with all boats suited to their own preferred winds.
Early weather forecasts have changed, with the final forecast for a lighter easterly breeze to guide the fleet out of the Sydney Heads, with a downwind nor’easter to get up later which will see some extremely fast sailing while it lasts. The hardest stretch will be up the notoriously quiet winds of the Derwent River.
American yacht Comanche looks the hardest to beat during the strongest winds, but may face troubles during the lighter conditions and had sudden upheaval with hew crew change, while Wild Oats XI is shaking off two years of retirements and has something to prove.
The other two supermaxis have less experienced crews in their boats and haven’t participated in any races ahead of the Boxing Day classic.

Canadiens vs Senators

A pair of 1-0 teams will look to continue their strong starts to the 2016-17 season when the Ottawa Senators host the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night at the Canadian Tire Centre.

Ottawa opened the season with a 5-4 overtime win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday in the wildest game of the year so far. Despite four goals from Maple Leafs rookie phenom Auston Matthews, the Senators pulled out the victory behind Kyle Turris’ goal 37 seconds into overtime.

Turris also scored midway through the third to even things up at four, while Bobby Ryan opened the scoring for Ottawa. Star defenseman began his quest for a third career Norris Trophy with a goal and two assists.

The Canadiens began the season with an impressive 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabers, a team many pegged as a possible playoff contender in the East. Backup goalie Al Montoya made 30 saves filling in for Carey Price, who was out with an illness and is not expected to join the team by Saturday.

Brandon Gallagher scored twice to lead the Canadiens, with new acquisition Andrew Shaw also adding his first goal for Montreal. Defenseman Shae Weber, who was acquired in a controversial trade for fan favorite P.K. Subban over the offseason, registered an assist.

A second straight win to open the year would help to ease some of the uneasiness surrounding the Canadiens this season after all the offseason moves. Meanwhile, new head coach Guy Boucher’s team could get some early-season confidence with a win over an Atlantic Division contender.

he 2008 X Factor winner has been in the dance-off twice in a row now despite regularly impressing the judges with her outstanding performances.

The 29-year-old and her professional dancer Gorka Marquez, 27, haven’t put a foot wrong but are failing to win over the public.

And now William Hill believe it is highly likely the singer will once again find herself in the dreaded dance-off with her odds at 6/4.

However, there is some glimmer of hope for Alexandra as her chances of leaving the competition are at 6/1, suggesting the judges would save her if push comes to shove.

Strictly Come Dancing‬‬ Final 2017

“Alexandra is having a rough time at present and we think things will only get worse at the weekend,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.

Debbie McGee, 59, and Holby City actor Joe McFadden, 42, are currently the joint favourites to win the coveted Glitterball trophy during the grand final next weekend.

Whereas, The Saturdays band member Mollie King, 30, is favourite to leave on Saturday night with former Emmerdale actress Gemma Atkinson, 33, coming close behind.

It’s been a corker of a year for Strictly Come Dancing, with some of the most talented celebrity contestants we’ve ever seen.

Each week of the 2017 series has seemed to bring with it a new number that we think has to go down in Strictly history, so impressive are its lifts, twists and turns.

Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice have performed some of the most stand-out routines of 2017 – you’ll see them feature again in this list – but their recent Argentine Tango to Por Una Cabeza was particularly memorable.

The magician’s assistant stunned the judges with her poker-straight legs and high-drama characterisation, even prompting Craig Revel Horwood to say that he wished he could dance like her.

WWE SmackDown Live results (Nov. 7, 2017): Becky Lynch vs. James Ellsworth

WWE SmackDown

He’s had his eyes on proving himself with a match against Universal champ Brock Lesnar, but if that Survivor Series showdown is going to be between each brand’s top titleholders, Jinder Mahal might not even be a part of it. That’s because WWE allegedly fast forwarded plans for AJ Styles to challenge for Mahal’s WWE championship from December’s Clash of Champions to today (in story, because the champ attacked AJ after his latest win over a Singh brother last Tuesday).

But why?

As we saw yesterday (Nov. 6) on Raw, these champ vs. champ matches for Houston on Nov. 19 are not set in stone. With question marks swirling about Roman Reigns availablility and still no confirmation John Cena will be there, all options appear to be open. Could one of those be a dream match between The Phenomenal One and The Beast Incarnate?

The Maharajah’s reign has a strategic purpose for the company, but it has not been well received by most of their passionate fan base. The announcement of Jinder/Brock was met mostly with people asking why, which Styles/Lesnar would more likely get a “f*** yeah!” reaction.

Does that mean they’ll pull the trigger? They could also hot shot the belt back to Mahal before they head to New Dehli in early December.

The possibility certainly makes for an interesting afternoon/evening in Britain.

The Title Scene

One half of Survivor Series’ tag title vs. title equation changed in Manchester on Monday… could that whole match change? It could, because less than 24 hours after Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins lost the Raw belts to The Bar, Jimmy and Jey Usos will put their blue Tag strapson the line against Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin. The challengers have the skill to win, and they seem to be in The Usos head a little bit, crashing their interviews with hot bars and reaction memes. We’ll find out if the twins can keep the division on lock.

United States champ Baron Corbin has had a bit of a distraction heading into his fight with Intercontinental titleholder The Miz, but nothing like The A-Lister’s monster-sized issues over on Raw. The Lone Wolf may have dodged a bullet, though, as his chief intra-brand rival, Sin Cara, seems headed to the disabled list with a knee injury.

Seeing as she could barely get on television last week, we’re gonna go ahead and assume Natalya’s Women’s championship is safe for now – especially with Ms. Money in the Bank Carmella focused on her little doggie’s intergender match against Becky Lynch.

Other stuff to keep an eye on:

– Speaking of Ellsworth/Lynch… this all started over Carm trash-talking the captain of SmackDown’s Women’s Survivor Series team. Becky Balboa’s fivesome is locked in, but could this challenge to her leadership – or the emergence of a new player – lead to changes in the squad?

– Over on Shane McMahon’s team, with wins last week, Bobby Roode and Shinsuke Nakamura joined the commissioner and Randy Orton with wins last. Rusev was supposed to face Styles for the final spot, before the impromptu WWE title match was made for today. Does The Handsome One have a reason to be elated, or will McMahon come up with a new way for him to prove his worth to Team SmackDown?

– Two men left off Shane’s squad are Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Sure, they lost their one-on-one qualifiers, but something tells me the reunited friends are still gonna place the blame at management’s feet.

– The New Day played a pretty key role in costing Ambrose and Rollins their titles yesterday when they pump faked “Under Siege 2”. Will The Lunatic Fringe and The Kingslayer stick around for a little payback? Will they bring a friend?

Final – Today, 9:01 PM ET
Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois
Dodgers vs Cubs

The Los Angeles Dodgers will try for a commanding 3-0 lead in their National League Championship Series against the Chicago Cubs, with the scene moving to Wrigley Field for Game 3 Tuesday night in Chicago.

The Cubs scored first in each of the first two games in Los Angeles, with a two-run home run by Albert Almora Jr. in Game 1, and an Addison Russell solo shot in Game 2. But those are the only runs of the series for Chicago.

The Dodgers rallied for five late runs to win on Saturday, then with a 1-1 tie in the ninth inning on Sunday that saw Justin Turner hit the second walk-off home run in the history of the franchise to give the Dodgers a commanding two games to none advantage.

Yu Darvish gets the start for the Dodgers in Game 3 and used cliches to combat thoughts of a potential Cubs offensive resurgence.

“They’ve got really good lineups from top to bottom, and they play as a team so there is nobody in that lineup that I can get easy on,” Darvish said. “So it’s going to be a battle, and I just want to take one pitch at a time, one guy at a time.”
