What a cool opportunity that these two teams have set before them for this Saturday night in Atlanta, as the Atlanta Falcons andCArizona Cardinals will have the opportunity to break in the new Mercedes-Benze Stadium.

For Falcons fans, it seems like this day has taken forever to come. We’ve been watching the contraction teams build this stadium for numerous years, but now we will get to watch the Dirty Birds finally take the field in their new nest — it truly is the beginning of a new era of Falcons football.

We already know that starting Falcons’ running back Devonta Freeman will not be playing on Saturday, but there’s still a chance we could see Julio Jones suit up for the first time this preseason. While I’m not a huge fan of Dan Quinn letting Jones play against Arizona, it wouldn’t hurt to get him on the field for more reps.

While a player of Jones’ caliber doesn’t need as many reps in the preseason as most, I’m sure it might help Matt Ryan and Jones to connect a few times against a defense other than Atlanta’s. Starters playing or not, this is going to be an exciting night in Atlanta. The stadium will surely have a ton of buzz surrounding it, as everyone in Georgia has high expectations for this football team in 2017.

That being said, take a look at three players you must watch in this game between the Falcons and Cardinals.

In back-to-back Thursday games, the Ravens took down Beltway rival Washington Redskins 23-3 before destroying the Miami Dolphins last week, 31-7. Things are looking good for Baltimore, and that’s all without Joe Flacco attempting a pass.

Quarterback Ryan Mallett led the team, throwing 13-for-22 for 113 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. While fellow quarterback Josh Woodrum completed 8-of-10 passes for 110 yards, he also ran for two touchdowns.

But the Ravens return home for their NFL Preseason Week 3 game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday, August 26. The Bills are currently 0-2 in preseason games, and Baltimore is riding some momentum that could make them 0-3.

The given itself should show in an interesting have a go at each other during two playoff hopefuls in the NFC, nonetheless don’t brake mistaken in a sweat to see all the stars. At least such team will sparingly manage its carved in stone talent and contrary to will complete to consider what it has on an expanded roster heretofore of league-mandated cuts.

Due to lineup grab bag and the commander unpredictability that surrounds approximately every NFL exhibition game, satisfy them can from day to day feel appreciate a true gamble. Analyzing the rule trends and stats is periodic of little uphold, for all that there are several handicappers out there that have a evaluate on at which point to jeopardize wisely far and wide the preseason. Jon Price of SportsInformationTraders.com is such of those, and he has been kind stuffing to grant his obtain for the upcoming Hall of Fame Game.

Before getting to Price’s letter from uncle sam for the season’s first confront, let’s yield a catch a glimpse of at the latest advantage and a painstaking guide for viewing this matchup between the Cowboys and Cardinals.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has already announced that none of his starters will see the field, and Cowboys coach Jason Garrett left these players back in Dallas: Maliek Collins, Ryan Switzer, Justin Durant, Jourdan Lewis and David Irving. As for starters, Garrett wouldn’t name names — “I will not make that declaration right now,” he said Tuesday about who might play — but Arians made it clear that we won’t see any of Arizona’s stars, including Carson Palmer, David Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu or Chandler Jones. Palmer’s backup, Drew Stanton, isn’t expected to play either, which means that Blaine Gabbert is likely to get the start.

Arians did say rookie first-rounder Hasaan Reddick will see the field but that the linebacker “[is] not going to play a ton.”

Adjust your excitement levels accordingly. And if you’re looking to wager on the game, be sure to check out our Mike Tierney’s betting breakdown on the game.

So while this may not be playoff-caliber football, there are reasons to watch. For Arians, it’s “all about young guys,” many of whom he’s “anxious to see them cover and block and return kicks.”

Then there’s Garrett, who reminded reporters that the last time the Cowboys appeared in Hall of Fame Game, back in 2013, it wasn’t a meaningless 60 minutes of football for Jeff Heath, who parlayed a solid performance into a roster spot. Heath has appeared in 62 games during his first four NFL seasons and signed a four-year deal last year.

“One of my real memories of him is watching the tape the next day, the kickoff reel and he literally is 10 yards ahead of everybody on the kickoff,” Garrett said of Heath’s first Hall of Fame Game, via ESPN.com. “[Coaches] are looking at each other like, ‘Who is that?’ He really showed up in that game. He’s a great example to the rest of our team. It really doesn’t matter where you came from, when you were drafted, what school you went to. You’re going to get an opportunity here, and if you take advantage of it, you’re going to get more of them.”

Dallas Cowboys 2017 Hall of Fame game against Arizona No ratings yet.

The Dallas Cowboys will play a football game this Thursday night. Hard as it might be to believe, NFL football is back – well, NFL preseason football is back. Still, that is a huge milestone on the road to the 2017 NFL season.

Dallas Cowboys 2017 Hall of Fame game against Arizona Live

The Cowboys will take on the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame game, giving both teams five preseason games this year. Given that this is in essence a “freebie” game, don’t expect many starters to play in the game, if any at all, or for any length of time. Both teams will use this game to evaluate the depth on their roster and give those players plenty of reps under “game” conditions. This can be a very important game for some. Today, in an article at ESPN, Jason Garrett recounted how Jeff Heath, then an undrafted free agent, really stood out on the film of the Hall of Fame game the Cowboys played in 2013. This led to Heath making the roster, which in all likelihood has led to him being a starting safety for the team in 2017.

Cowboys fans would love to see Jaylon Smith in the Hall of Fame game, but there are reports that the team doesn’t plan to play him. Cowboys fans will just have to wait a while longer. Dallas will also be taking a long look at Jonathan Cooper at left guard. Chaz Green is injured, so Cooper has a huge opportunity.

Other players that definitely won’t be involved include Ryan Switzer (hamstring), Maliek Collins (hip flexor), Justin Durant (conditioning), David Irving (ankle) and Jourdan Lewis(hamstring).

It’s doubtful we see any of the stars like Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, etc. playing this game, but prospects like Taco Charlton and Chidobe Awuzie will get an opportunity to show what they can do. The rookie draft class will be under the lights and will be trying to prove they deserve playing time.
